Any resident of New York State may enroll in this program.

This initiative is currently being driven by New York State and the Governor’s office for all NYS citizens.

Yes! Any resident of New York State is eligible to enroll.

No prior knowledge or experience is required. Any NYS resident with interest in public health may enroll.

COURSE EXPERIENCE

You should plan to spend 2-4 hours per week on this training.

You will be asked to watch short videos, read text, think about situations related to public health, visit websites, and take short quizzes. You will have the ability to take the quizzes as many times as needed.

Yes, the course is 100% online and you may work at your own pace. You will be invited to join live events at specific times, but these are not required to complete the course and recordings will be made available.

You will have 8 weeks from the start date to complete the program. You will have an additional 1 week following to download and save any materials that you wish to keep, including a full transcript.

Yes, all live sessions will be recorded. The links to the recordings will be available in the Announcements section of your course, which you can access using the “Course Shortcuts” link in your course navigation.

Cornell uses the Canvas learning platform.

A certificate from NYS that will designate you as a NYS Public Health Leader. The New York State Department of Health will send your NYS Community Public Health Leader Certificate to you via email within 60 days of completing the program. If you have questions about your NYS certificate, please send your inquiry to: CitizenPHTrainingCertificate@health.ny.gov

Yes, if space is available, you may retake it at no cost. Please re-enroll on the same website where you originally enrolled.

ENROLLMENT

The first step is to indicate interest by filling out a short form on this website and verifying you are a NYS resident: https://nypublichealth.cornell.edu/nyspublichealth/. Once you express interest, you will receive an email from nypublichealth@cornell.edu with instructions on how to enroll.

After you receive your email invite to enroll via the enrollment portal, you will receive a separate confirmation email with your new account information. You’ll then access the course on lms.ecornell.com

If you have forgotten your password you can request a password reset link while attempting to log in. When prompted to enter your password, please click “Forgot Your Password”. Then, enter the email address associated with your account and click Submit. You will then be able to reset your password from your email inbox. If you cannot resolve the issue in this manner, please send an email to nypublichealth@cornell.edu.
